Are you thinking of opening a networking site, maybe its Myspace or Facebook? Well, there are many things that you should know before you get access to the world of the internet. For instance, when starting a page, you do not want to display your email address on your page, because people that you do not know might try to access your email account and get your information. Another thing that you should not do on your new network page is to not put your whole name. With that, people are able to find what school you go to and Google you to see if you have gotten any awards in your lifetime. You might also not want to put your address, because, well let’s face it; people are going to know where you live. Also, please do not put your phone number on your page, people can call you at anytime of the day and could stalk you. You should also not give the location of where your job is, if you are working, because, again you could get stalked by people. And if you need to be a certain age to access a page do not lie about your age, because it can lead to a whole bunch of lies. And it won’t be good on your part.
Now that you basically have your page assembled, you might get approached by people you just don’t know. Do not be tempted by that. If a random person goes on your page and just saying nice things, be cautious! Don’t reply back. This can lead to a dangerous situation. If you totally ignore this step, you might be asked by the person in the future to meet up at a place. Do not do that either! It can be someone you never saw, that just lied about the person you thought they were which can lead to you getting hurt, or worse, killed!
Most networking sites have a little section where you are able tell about yourself. In that section, please do not say thing like ‘talk to me I’m friendly’, ‘Let’s meet up if you’re cute’, words and phrases. Because that will provoke people to talk to you, which might end up it the two of you meeting, and that can be a horrible situation in itself. So you should take all these steps into consideration to be safe of the world of the internet.
